With the onset of summer vacation earlier than normal (for me) – Seriously, I’m from Pennsylvania!  Who ever heard of getting out of school BEFORE Memorial Day? – We’ve been busy, when I say we I mean I have been busy.  Because apparently my children believe I am their entertainment director.  They are learning pretty quickly that I’m really not and if they actually want to be entertained they need to figure it out on their own!

What Have We Done So Far?

I had all these plans to go explore the outlying areas of Fort Worth, but my oldest broke her toe and we have been pretty limited in what we can do.  Sigh.  We were able to get to the Fort Worth Zoo this summer, which is super cool and so much better than the Philly Zoo, in my opinion.  Not as crowded, not as expensive, much cleaner and a manageable size.  The night after we went to the zoo, the toe broke…..

What Do We Want To Do?

Considering we are less than 40 days to Back To School (inner happy dance going on) I still want to get down to the Stockyards again, because I love it.  I still want to go to the Water Gardens and Dinosaur Park in Glen Rose.  Those are the three things I hope to accomplish in the next month…..I’m not going to over reach my wants for this summer.  The girls haven’t hurt each other too much and they seem to be getting along at this particular moment, so I’ll be happy if we can get to these three!

Crafting Life

Beaded Bracelet by MyBeadJeweledWorldI’ve been busy on a few different projects this summer.  The first one being my beaded bracelets.  On a trip to the Stockyards I fell in love with a beaded bracelet but was upset that it didn’t fit me correctly, even though it was stretchy.  I mean, who wants to wear divots in their skin?  I figured I can make one that would fit me so I tried and I did!  Simple.  Apparently, I did a pretty good job because friends and family loved them.  Needless to say, I’ve set up an Etsy store.  If you want, feel free to stop by and take a look.  I currently have about 12 more bracelets to add to the store.

If you’re interested in making your own bracelets, you only need a few simple items:

Keep an eye out for a tutorial on my other website, My BeadJeweledWorld

The other thing I’ve been working on is making journals to sell on Amazon.  I design the covers, use a template for the interior files.  I’ve made many different blank journals and notebooks.  I love making them and having my girls help me with some of the designs.  They even put in special requests for the notebooks – blank graphic novels!  I’ll have an entire post on this over the next few days.  In the meantime, check out some of the notebooks I’ve made.  If you have any requests, let me know and I’ll see if I can get one up on Amazon for you!

Spring Break Photo Challenge – Tween Edition

Monthly photo challenges are everywhere; Insta, Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter.  You kind of can’t get away from them.  After an impromptu photography lesson with my oldest this morning on the way to the bus stop, I decided to put together a Spring Break Photo Challenge – Tween Edition.  I put it together and printed out four copies.  One for each of my kids (3) and the neighbor we nicknamed #4 – because more than likely she will be here every day during break too.

In a matter of 3.5 hours, I will be inundated with three girls excited to be off for the next 9 days.  They will eat me out of the house.  They will fight every second of every day, and they will NOT do the chores I need them to do in preparation for the house guests we having coming over the next few weeks.  However, I think they will enjoy taking pictures.  It will also give me an opportunity to share a little bit of what I know about photography.  I’m not a professional, but it has always been a passion of mine.  So, if you and your kids want to join us, feel free to use #SpringBreakPCT Link to Twitter hashtag search.

I can’t wait to see what my girls and YOU come up with!

10 Dollar Tree Items To PersonalizeDid you know that you can purchase items from Dollar Tree to personalize with your vinyl cutting machine?  Who knew, right?  But you can!  Not only can you personalize items for yourself, you can also sell these items and make money!  Seriously, you can.  And there are many people out there doing it.

  1. Wine Glasses – All different styles of wine glasses are available at Dollar Tree.   You can personalize them with vinyl, put on some sassy sayings, add some glitter to the stem, whatever you choose.
  2. Plushies – Always check Dollar Tree for plushies.  They typically have some cute little plushies for upcoming holidays.  Slap on a vinyl name and you have a cute, cheap gift for the kid in your life.
  3. Baskets – Easter time is the time of Bunnies, candy, and egg hunts.  Dollar Tree sells some cute plastic baskets that can be personalized with a bunny silhouette and a name.  For a few dollars you have the centerpiece of your child’s Easter morning.
  4. T-Shirts – Personalizing t-shirts is a fun way to show your style.  Put a silly quote, a meaningful image, or a team name and you have a unique and stylish shirt.
  5. Coffee Mugs – Who doesn’t love a good coffee mug?  Dollar Tree has many different styles that can be personalized with your favorite quote or name.
  6. Plates – Turn a piece of tableware into a piece of art!  Buy a plate stand (also at Dollar Tree) to showcase your work of art.
  7. Bowls – Turn a small bowl into a personalized jewelry holder for the bathroom or next to the kitchen sink.
  8. Jars – Grab a clear jar with a lid, some spray paint and a drawer pull.  With a little bit of work you have a beautiful container for your bathroom or kitchen.
  9. Cutting Boards – Add your favorite recipe to a simple cutting board to make a personalize gift you’ll treasure for years to come.
  10. Kitchen Towels – Turn a plain bowl into a seasonal decor item.  Buy a plain kitchen town and use some HTV to personalize it with a name, date, or seasonal image.

Buy these to create personalized gifts for friends and family or buy them to sell.  These are cheap and easy items to add to your crafting repertoire.  I’ve created a few of these with success and a few are on my list of things to do.
